The Yak-9 was the most important Soviet single-seat fighter of WWII. Though notoriously bad at high altitudes, below that it was able to outmaneuver its greatest foes, the Bf109 and Fw190, proving vital in maintaining air superiority over the Luftwaffe. This particular "ace of spades" Yak-9 belonged to Pavel Golovachev, an Ace with 31 victories to his name.
